Brief:

The Blenheim sewer upgrade scheme involved in installing 3 new pumpstations throughout Blenheim - Budge St, McLauchlan St, and Bomford Street. Each location had its own distinct challenges and designs we had to navigate through.

Budge Street Pumpstation was a retrofit station involving concrete demolition of the existing 3.8m Diameter wet/dry well to install a new GRP Tank into the casing. McLauchlan Street Pumpstation was a replacement station to an existing station on the same site.

Bomford Street was a new wastewater pumpstation, stormwater pumpstation and a bypass treatment plant, to be able to take pressure of the sewer lines throughout Blenheim during flooding events.

Bomford Scope:

• Installation of a 3.5m-diameter GRP main/bypass pump station and foundation

• Installation of a 3.5m-diameter GRP outfall pumpstation valve and foundation

• Constructing 4 no. below-ground concrete chambers – 2 no. pump station valve chambers, 1 no. UV reactor chamber and 1 no. stormwater screening chamber

• Supplying and installing a 3-no. pre-cast concrete flow meter chambers (2 no. 1.8m-diameter and 1 no. at 2.05m diameter)

• Suppling and installing 1.5m diameter inlet manhole to the main pump station.

• Supplying and installing 1 no. submersible pump for the outfall pump station and all the pipe work and valving

• Install a drum screen and support frame (free issued by the principal) and foundation, including a below ground pit in which screenings bin will be located (bin to be free issued by the principal)

• Supplying and installing a 2.05m-diameter inlet manhole on the stormwater overflow to the outfall pump station

• Facillitatoin of construction of a MCC Building, with internal lighting, air conditioning, smoke alarm and intruder alarm

• Installing a standby diesel generator (free issued by the principal) and base slab.

• Constructing a sealed site access roadway and turning bay, complete with kerb and channel drainage. The majority of remaining pump station site area within the fenced compound to be surfaced in pea gravel.

• Facillitatoin of electrical installation, including switchboard, pump VSD’s, telemetry, electrical ducts and all cabling and instrumentation, including termination of fibre optic cable in the MCC Room.

• Supplying and installing ancillary equipment/services (power supply, 2 no. odour filters, fencing, access gate, bollards, stormwater drainage, potable water (including hydrant and 3 no. hose reels), site lighting)

• Trenching for the HV power cabling, fibre optic cabling and ducting from the site boundary to the MCC Room (cabling and ducting to be provided by others)

• Supplying and installing an RPZ valve, along with testing and certification

• Commissioning and testing of all equipment
